Rodrigo Botero’s artistic practice moves between tattooing, drawing, painting, and other forms of graphic expression. His research draws from the traditions of tattooing as well as references such as woodcut, ukiyo-e, Brazilian popular art, and urban graphic culture, exploring the relationships between image, body, memory, and identity.
In 2025, he participated in Love Hurts, an exhibition held at Atelier Veneno in Bonn, Germany — a space that also functions as his studio and as an independent platform for artistic production and presentation. The exhibition brought together works by different artists around themes of love, desire, loss, affection, and pain, exploring the symbolic and emotional dimensions of these experiences through different visual languages.
Earlier in his career, Botero participated in Arte da Alma, an exhibition held at Farol Santander in São Paulo, Brazil. The exhibition brought together artists and different forms of contemporary artistic expression, presenting works that explored the relationship between artistic practice, subjectivity, and human experience.
These exhibitions are part of the ongoing expansion of Botero’s artistic practice. For him, tattooing is not a boundary, but one of many possible techniques within a broader investigation into image, body, and culture.
