The Wannado Project was created in 2022 with a different intention.
The idea was never to simply make tattoos — as if that were a simple thing to do.
What started as a way of “recycling” sketches and drawings that had been created with no specific purpose or destination, simply for the sake of drawing, slowly became something else: an accessible work of art that could exist as a framed piece, but could also move from the wall to the skin.
In the early years of the project, Wannados were offered at fixed prices and followed a clearly defined visual language. Each drawing was created as a limited and marginal artwork, made to exist as a piece of art in its own right.
When someone acquires a Wannado, they receive an original, numbered and framed artwork. And, at no additional cost, they can choose to have that same artwork tattooed onto their skin.
The tattoo, therefore, is not the product itself.
It is a possibility.
The work can remain on the wall, become part of a collection, or move from the wall to the body. The decision belongs entirely to the person who acquires it.
Over time, this simple idea began to take unexpected directions. For some people, Wannados became collectible works, while for others they became a way of owning a work of art and transforming it into something permanently personal.
Since the beginning of the project, more than 300 artworks have been made available for acquisition, with more than 250 already sold.
What began as a way of recycling drawings became an ongoing investigation into the relationship between art, collecting, tattooing, contemporary life, accessibility, and the body.
Wannado questions the traditional distance between an artwork and the person who owns it. It proposes a different relationship with the original: a work that can be displayed, collected, shared and — if the owner chooses — carried on the skin. The artwork can even be sold or given as a gift to someone else.
The project continues to evolve, but its starting point remains the same:
It is not simply about getting a tattoo.
It is about acquiring a work, giving it a place, and deciding what happens to it next.
